Butterfly (2022) Movie Review | Anupama Parameswaran, Bhumika Chawla

குழந்தைகள் கடத்தப்பட்டு, ransom கொடுத்தாலும் கொல்லப்படுகின்றனர் அப்டினு படம் start ஆகுது. OKன்னு interestingஆ நிமுந்து உக்காந்தா, அடுத்து வர சீன்லயே clicheவா ஒரு impact குடுக்குறாங்க.

Anupama Parameswaran and Bhumika are the lead characters in the movie. Anupama calls Bhumika as “amma” and Bhoomika says, “don’t call me amma, just call me akka” – But for the rest of the movie she calls her “அம்மா” and we get just as irritated as Bhoomika every time.

The storyline is nothing new – the well old kidnap story, and the director has tried to create an impact by also sending out the message about how women are perceived in the society.

The writing is so amateurish that makes the movie so dilute. Kidnap பத்தின பதட்டத்தையும் ஒழுங்கா உணர முடியல, பெண்கள் பத்தி இயக்குனர் சொல்ல வரதும் மனசுல பதியுற அளவுக்கு அழுத்தம் இல்ல. 10 நிமிஷத்துக்கு ஒரு வாட்டி flashbackகுக்கு கூட்டிட்டு போய் “அம்மா”ங்கிற அந்த பாட்ட போட்டு, எதோ கொஞ்சம் நஞ்சம் build ஆகுற tensionஅயும் அமுக்கிடுறாங்க.    

Not just amateur writing but also amateur acting waters down the quality of the movie. The scenes that immediately follow after the kids are missing lack impact. The way they search for the kids is so elaborately shown for a very long time – with repetitive instances and flashback portions.

The second half is relatively fast paced but still doesn’t manage to create the impact for the package one would expect. Anupama is the only person who carries the movie on her shoulders with her dedicated acting.
