We are all on a lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic. And being on a lock down for a while can be really frustrating.
It can be boring. Especially for the kids. Kids are so used to moving around freely, playing and having fun outdoors.
Being indoors is totally fine too. But too much of anything can be annoying!
As a result, many kids resort to screens out of compulsion. I mean, when they can’t go out and play and have to be locked down in the house for a very long while, you cannot blame them right!
In order to avoid boredom here are some of the engaging, fun and useful things you can do absolutely indoors during the lockdown, so both you and your parents can be happy!
Draw during the lockdown!
Drawing can be so much fun. And it is a creative activity too.
Drawing not only helps you pass your time, but it is a skill that you can slowly develop, experiment and master.
And to start with, you don’t need any superior skills. You can trace and color if you want.
Or try drawing by seeing a picture – start with a simple one.
Or you can also try free drawing where you unleash your imagination.
Over time, you can get really good at it.
Gardening
This is not just a timepass activity. It is also a skill – more like a survival skill.
Depending upon the space you have at your home, you can try a variety of gardening activities.
Outdoor planting, weeding, watering, indoor planting and the like count as gardening activities.
Among these you can spend a few minutes every day to water the plants – you not only spend your time, but also get to personally see the plants and their progress.
I help my mom with watering the plants everyday. And it gives me immense joy to eat wonder berries right off the plants, pluck tomatoes and to smell the roses.
Play with siblings, if you have them
Sibling fun is unlimited. I have a little sister with whom I spend quite some time everyday playing in a variety of ways.
We do everything pretty much together. I have shared how I play with her in a separate video.
Origami
Just like drawing, Origami can keep you engaged and kindle your enthusiasm.
You can get a lot creative. To start with, you can check a few videos on YouTube and try to follow.
After a while, you can unleash your creativity and make interesting things!
Help parents with household
Being on a lock down is not only tough for us kids. It is also highly challenging for the parents to cope.
So we must do whatever we can to make the situation better for them.
Depending upon our age, we can help them with the household chores.
I water the plants everyday and assist my sister during meal time. I also help my mom with her video shoots.
In addition, if my mom asks me to help her with any cleaning activities, I do so.
Play brain games
Finally, you can grab a phone, or tab or a laptop and play brain games.
There are various games offered by educational websites that will boost your maths and logical skills.
These games improve your mind power and can sharpen your mental skills.
To wind up, doing these activities will not only help you to kill the lockdown time but also will improve your skills and make the lockdown time useful!
